Talking Pictures TV (Freeview 82, Sky 328, Virgin 445, Freesat 306) is again the winner but they are facing stiff competition from the both Rewind TV and That’s TV.
Rewind TV (Freeview 81) who offer a great blend of classic British TV and American TV along with plenty films. They follow the Talking Pictures TV model in by also producing their own content such as music shows Stereo Underground.
Classic offerings now include A Sharp Intake Of Breath, Bewitched, Boon, Dark Skies, Haggard, I Dream Of Jeannie, Joker’s Wild, Please Sir!, Shine In Harvey Moon, The Brian Conley Show, The Monkees and You’re Only Young Twice.
Meanwhile That’s TV (Freeview 65, Sky 183, Freesat 178) has three channels dedicated to classic television with series such as Bread, Goodnight Sweetheart, Man About The House, Oh, Doctor Beeching, Rising Damp, Steptoe And Son and You Rang, M’Lord to name just a few.
However Talking Pictures TV is still the channel to beat with its excellent blend of classic films and television. Friday nights are horror nights with the Cellar Club with Caroline Munro. Meanwhile Saturday mornings are for classic children’s TV. with programs such as Batman, Space Patrol, Stingray, The Adventures of Robin Hood, The Roy Rodgers Show. That is usually followed at noon with a science fiction film.
It really is a fantastic time for lovers of classic television and old films!

Popcorn Cinema Awards 2025 – Final Thought
2025 has proved another excellent year for physical media film lovers / collectors. There have been lots of 4K restorations of classic movies arriving on both 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray formats.
Second Sight Films really deserves a mention too, as they released some excellent films on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray. Examples include David Cronenberg’s The Brood (1979) and Scanners (1981). Others great releases included Ti West’s, The House of the Devil (2009) and The Innkeepers (2011).
Looking ahead to 2026 there is more than a little uncertainty due to the proposed sale of Warner Bros to Netflix or Paramount. What would this mean for physical releases?
I’d would think that may well mean the end of a lot of the Warner Bros titles being restored and released on to 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray.
Netflix would surely want to lock all of Warner Bros back catalogue behind their streaming platform. That could mean lots of films are simply lost forever or at the whim of Netflix making them available on their platform.
As for new movies would they be relegated to a limited cinema release or simply be streaming only.
Would Paramount make a better home for Warner Bros? Again I’m not sure that it would either!
Hopefully labels such as Arrow Video, 88 Films, Indicator, Eureka Entertainment, Second Sight Films, Radiance Films, and Hammer Films will carry on bringing a wide range of high quality 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray releases throughout 2026.
