Here’s my Circus of Fear blu-ray review. As a fan of actor Christopher Lee I am always on the lookout for any of his films making their way on to blu-ray.
Unfortunately sometimes some titles only come out in certain countries such as the America. This is of course rather frustrating however many are indeed region free and can be obtained on Amazon.
The blu-ray I’m reviewing here is one of those cases. It comes with two films the Circus of Fear & Five Golden Dragons I’ll take a look at both but will start off with Circus of Fear.
- Circus of Fear (1966) aka Psycho-Circus – US Import
- Discs: 1 (Two Films Circus of Fear & Five Golden Dragons)
- Released By Blue Underground
Plot
Following an armed robbery on an armoured van at Tower Bridge the gang go their separate ways with one of the members deciding to hide their ill gotten gains at the Barberini’s Circus. However following several murders with knifes at the circus everyone is a potential victim and suspect.
Style / Direction
John Moxey directs with the cinematography being handled by Ernest Steward. Circus of Fear is a well made thriller that flows well and provides plenty of intrigue.
Music / Audio Effects
The music is good on the whole with plenty of dramatic stings to really ramp up the tension.
Acting / Characters
On the whole everyone does a good job to provide a thoroughly enjoyable thriller.
Conclusion: Circus of Fear (1966) Film Review
Circus of Fear is a thoroughly enjoyable British thriller with a good cast and storyline that keeps you guessing right up until the end, this one’s well worth a look.
If you like my Five Golden Dragons blu-ray review you may want to check out these films:
Conclusion: Circus of Fear Blu-ray Review
Hopefully a company such as Powerhouse Films or Arrow Video will obtain the rights and release both of the films for the UK market as obtaining this one can prove more than a little tricky via Amazon.
Taking a closer look at the picture quality reveals an excellent print.
There’s not too much on the extras front so there is definitely room for improvement if it ever receives a UK release.
