There’s little doubt writer/director John Hughes was responsible for some truly iconic movies during the 1980’s. Well there’s great news as the John Hughes 5 Movie Collection Blu-ray has arrived in the UK and is available now.
Our favourite has to be the utterly brilliant Planes, Trains And Automobiles (1987) starring Steve Martin and John Candy. Hughes wrote and directed the film.
Then there’s another classic he also wrote and directed, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986). It starred Matthew Broderick in the title role. The supporting cast wasn’t bad either with Mia Sara, Alan Ruck and Jennifer Grey.
Meanwhile American teen romantic comedy Pretty In Pink (1986) starred Molly Ringwald plus a lot of familiar names such as Harry Dean Stanton, Jon Cryer, Annie Potts, James Spader and Andrew McCarthy.
Some Kind of Wonderful (1987) is an American romantic drama film written by John Hughes but directed by Howard Deutch. Finally Hughes both wrote and directed romantic comedy She’s Having A Baby (1988).
