It’s seems to be an odd time to be a movie lover in the UK. Warner Bros for example has decided Clint Eastwood’s latest film Cry Macho (2021) is not worthy of a Blu-ray release in the UK.
Yes that’s right no 4K Ultra HD or standard Blu-ray only the DVD which is out now.
Do they really expect fans of Eastwood to be happy with a DVD version? Think of all the money we’ve spent on those nice big televisions. It really does seem a ridiculous decision, I mean its 2022 and there’s a big push for 4K Ultra HD and TV’s capable of 8K.
Sure you can simply purchase the USA blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD versions of Cry Macho via import as it’s a region free release, but that is not really the point.
In any case the DVD released on 14th February 2022 in the UK and I checked to see if HMV had any exclusivity deal (as the do with many of Warner Bros titles) but they also only have it on DVD.
If Warner Bros respond to my query I’ll update this article.
