Old Gold Media are releasing, The Sweeney Series One Blu-ray (50th Anniversary Edition) this June in the UK.
This “Newly Restored Edition” comes on 5 discs and is packed full of extras.
The Sweeney is a television drama starring John Thaw, Dennis Waterman and Garfield Morgan as members of the police’s Flying Squad. They specialise in tackling armed robbery and violent crime.
There’s more good news as Old Gold Media are promising all episodes of this cult 1970’s television series will be released during 2025, so stay tuned for further announcements on series two, three and four!
So get ready for Jack Regan’s and his famous “Get your trousers on, you’re nicked” quote!

As a big fan of The Sweeney I’m really hoping Old Gold Media do indeed release all the series on Blu-ray during in 2025.
Is this a release that interests you, will be picking up upon its June release?
Next on my wishlist would be a fully restored Blu-ray release of the all episodes of Minder!
Which other classic television series deserve to be restored and released on to Blu-ray? They would really need to be ones shot on film rather than video to really prove worthwhile.
