Studiocanal are bringing a true classic to 4K at the start of October for the UK. An Inspector Calls (1954) is a British drama based on author J.B. Priestley’s story and stars the fantastic Alastair Sim.
There are certain films I have no hesitation in upgrading from Blu-ray to 4K Ultra HD and Inspector Calls (1954) falls into that category. Furthermore Studiocanal confirm that this release is indeed a ‘Brand New 4K Restoration’ so I for one am really looking forward to seeing it fully restored.

The film, directed by‎ Guy Hamilton, stars Alastair Sim as Inspector Poole who is investigating the suicide of a Eva Smith. He believes the Birling family may know something about what led to to her death, and so it begins!!!
Just as Alastair Sim portrays the definitive Ebenezer Scrooge in the 1951 film, in my opinion at least, he does the same with J.B. Priestley’s Inspector Poole.
If you have somehow never seen this classic film, I’d recommend picking it up on either 4K UHD or Blu-ray this October.
Sadly Studiocanal has not produced a new 4K trailer for their new restoration of the film, so I guess we will have to wait until its in our hands to see how good it looks.
