There’s great news for Eric and Ernie fans as a new DVD is due to be released by the BBC. It’s titled, Morecambe and Wise – The Lost Tapes and is out in June 2022 in the UK.
Morecame & Wise were a hugely popular double act in Britain that pulled in massive television ratings especially in the 1970’s and early 80s.

So why is this big news? Well the DVD includes 4 complete never before released episodes of ‘The Morecambe and Wise Show’. There’s also 4 further episodes that are audio-only recordings included. These had been thought lost for over fifty years.
“Four complete episodes have been recovered on film, with the other four surviving as high-quality audio-only recordings. Following extensive restoration all eight episodes are presented here on DVD for the very first time.”

There lots more to with an extensive collection of additional special features, all of which are previously unreleased. The big ones being a once lost one-off special episode from 1970 and an un-broadcast 1972 studio tape.
For those of you looking to purchase this just be aware that due to the age and condition of these lost tapes the picture quality and audio may vary.
That said I can’t wait to see these “Lost Tapes” whatever their condition.
